Second visit to the University of Iceland

Second visit to the University of Iceland within the REX RMA project

The second delegation from the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava visited the University of Iceland within the REX RMA project on the 20th-24th. November. The delegation consisted of vice-dean from the Faculty of Architecture and Design Klára Macháčová, associate professor Ján Erdélyi, STU representative in Brussels Milan Matlovič, project managers Barbora Čutríková, Alžbeta Lapšanská, Erasmus coordinator Mária Páleníková and research worker Nataliia Yehorchenkova.

Our colleagues from the University of Iceland had prepared an impressive program for us that spanned 5 days. During this time, they introduced us to the entire university campus, including its various schools and faculties. During the meetings, we also had the opportunity to look into the laboratories and see a lot of interesting research that they carried out. We visited the project centre and discussed the problems faced by both universities. It was a valuable time spent when we mutually exchanged inspiring ideas and know-how about universities, how to improve individual processes at the university and how to build future cooperation.

During our visit to Iceland, we visited one of the largest geothermal power plants on the planet. We had the opportunity to participate in the kick-off meeting of the ongoing Aurora 2030 project, in which the University of Iceland is involved. The meeting was attended by members of a university alliance similar to ours, like our starting EULiST project.

We are grateful to our colleagues Kristín and Hulda for a week full of inspiring meetings and conversations, and for the time spent at the University of Iceland, which they prepared for us.

We are excited to meet again at the final conference of the REX RMA project, and look forward to further cooperation.
